The deal about coupons...

So I am beginning to morph into a  coupon freak now that I've found the secret to saving money at the grocery store... I went to Albertson's today with a list of good deals and a few coupons in hand and become instantaneously in love at the checkout!  My first "order" I spent $25 on 10 General Mills/Betty Crocker items and got $10 plus $2.50 back from the Catalina coupons and saved $19.90 after all the deals and coupons. THEN spent $ 112 on 3 loaves of bread, 4 boxes of cereal  5 cans .79 tuna, 9 packages of .15 Top Ramen (this sounds like it should be a song on Sesame Street...) Lots of meat and fish and various other good stuff- and saved $68 after all the deals and coupons I used... I may sound like a crazy mad woman, but at least I'm one who's saved a little bit of coin!

I will add some of the sites that I have used so far if you are interested... Another great way to get coupons, I've learned, is the Sunday paper.  I haven't really used that resource at this point, but I'm already on planning on stealing the one from Brent's work after we get home from church ;) More on this to come...

One more post for the day...

I am so sad that our ward boundaries have changed and we're now in the new 13th ward... It really ticks me off because we're only a block away from the cut off! So as of now, no more young women's which is a bummer cuz I just posted a blog saying how much fun I was having with them!
It's funny though, before the stake meeting last night I said the dinner prayer and said that we are thankful and open for challenges or changes that may come, and that they might help us grow. So in a way I already some how knew that some kind of change was coming.
We've got a great new bishop, which we feel is a downfall because he knows us so he won't be scared to ask us to a new calling...all I have to say is Bring it on!!

Projects...

So I'm working on a couple projects right now. I don't know why but I feel like I need to fill up my time with doing something productive-more or less. Right now I'm working on little felt books for my neices/nephews and friends. I've almost, (I say almost very loosely...) finished with the first of three that I will be making this year....
At this point in time, I do not own a sewing machine and I do not really enjoy hand stitching everything... so I'm thinking that I will have to break down and get one which scares me, because (and Ashley will vouch) I did not do well in the sewing portion of home ec... My poor sad apron that I made is non-wearable because the ties fell off...
Samee likes to help too...she's warming up the material for me...isn't that sweet?

I am also dabbling in making cards. One day my dream is to stay at home with kids, but since I'd go crazy not working or doing something, I'd like to make and sell cards in packs like this...
I made and sent these out to family for V-Day. I really love making them, if nothing else. One day I'd like to have stock for every holiday/occasion, but getting to that point is a whole other ball park.

Valentine's Day

V-DAY!!!
Last Saturday was so very nice. Brent and I got up at our leisure, which is usually 10a.m. I made breakfast for the second time in my life ;) I got out our 'ole waffle maker (which has been used twice since we got married-which is funny since I LOVE waffles?!) and made Belgium waffles with strawberries and real whipped cream. Hashed up some taters and got out the O.J. and had a nice little meal at our table that we never use.
After breakfast brent covered my eyes with a towel and surpirsed me with 3 pink roses and the jacket...

The jacket...
Downtown there's a Levi's store that we love to frequent when we're waiting for dinner/movies and I saw this jacket that I really wanted but there was no way I was going to pay full price for it. My eyes pored on it for a while and I whined about wanting it, and we left, me, not thinking much about it after that. So a few weeks ago Levi's went out of business and I was sooo bummed. I had told Brent this, and little did I know he already knew and had gotten me the jacket. I love it so much!! I think it's the one of the best presents Brent has ever gotten me, on the sole fact that he REMEMBERED something that I like!!

After breakfast we got ready and went out with friends Lance and Audra. We ate at Pollo Rey (Yum!) and then went over to Edwards's to watch a movie. Friday the 13th was probably the last movie I'd want to watch... not only do I loath scary movies, but it was Valenentine's Day for cryin' out loud!!! But I didn't want to make a big deal about it....
I hated it....
I spent most of the movie hiding in Brents' shoulder.... needless to say, I now relieve Audra of movie-picking duty...
Next on the agenda... I surprised Brent by taking him to a Steelheads hockey game...
They won! It was such a fun time, we loaded up on nachos, burgers, hotdogs-the works! Nothin' like a good ol' hockey game that makes you hope watching a good fight break out! (Don't worry, there was a great one at the very end so we weren't disappointed...)
After waiting for almost an hour to get out of the parking garage, we headed home to little Sam-a-Lam, she missed us so much...she always does...

Young Womens

I just have to let everyone know that I had such a fun night at young women's tonight! It's been my favorite so far! We spilt up into two groups and went around and gave heart attacks to some of the people in the ward-heart attacks meaning decorating their door with hearts-not the bad kind!  We then rang their doorbell and sang Sugar, Sugar... ah Honey, Honey... and then hand them a plate of cookies.
My favorite house was an old couples home, the husband is very sick and very frail looking... He came to the door and when we started singing, his cute little face lit up like the 4th of July! I hope we made his day!
Afterwards we went back and had snacks at the YW president's house and played games. It was so fun to talk to all the girls and get to know them better! I LOVE my calling!!

New Years Revolution

My New Years Resolutions will be embarking a month later for me because I honestly didn't want to have anything to do with the hype... However, the more I thought about it, the more I really wanted to set goals and accomplish them.   I'm the laurels advisor in Young Women's and I didn't want to be a hypocrite not practicing what I preach every Sunday.
It is true that perfection is hard to perfect, I know, but there is alway room for more perfection in the world... :)  (this is the part where Brent would make his 'yeah, right' snort)
i resolute to become a better person than I was last year, that I will be more compassionate and loving towards my fellow man...
That I will not get caught up in the little things that I think that matter, and cherish the little things that do matter...
Discover and cultivate new and existing talents...
Love more and loathe less...
Not to fear change and the unexpected, but welcome it, even if it is inconvenient or difficult...
Strive to make every day an adventure...
Make the gym my friend and not my enemy...
Build stronger relationships with the ones I love...
Save more and spend less...

...only 329 days to go!
